Don't Wordle Rules
Basic Objective
- The puzzle picks one hidden five-letter answer.
- You must keep every guess legal under the clues you have already revealed.
- If you ever submit the hidden answer, you immediately Wordle and lose.
- If you fill all six rows without submitting the answer, you survive.
Color Rules
Green
That exact letter must stay in that exact slot from then on.
Yellow
That letter must keep appearing, but not in the same slot where it just failed.
Gray
The letter is eliminated entirely if it never appears in the answer, or it tells you that you have already used as many copies of that letter as the answer allows.
What Makes a Guess Legal
- All green letters must stay fixed.
- All discovered yellow and green letters must keep appearing enough times.
- Letters that have been fully eliminated cannot be reused.
- Letter-position combinations that already failed cannot be repeated.
- If duplicate-letter clues reveal a maximum count, you cannot exceed it.
Valid Words Remaining
The counter at the top shows how many legal guesses are still available. It is not a count of possible answers. It measures how many words you are still allowed to type. When the counter falls faster than the number of possible answers, the board is closing in on you.
Undo and Elimination
- Standard mode gives you five Undos.
- Hard Mode gives you two Undos.
- If legal guesses remaining are too few for the rows you still need, you are eliminated.
- If you still have Undo available, that state is temporary and Undo is your only way out.
- If you have no Undo left, the elimination becomes final.
