Reverse Wordle

A Different Kind of Pressure

In ordinary Wordle, information is always helpful. In Reverse Wordle, information can be lethal. The closer you get to understanding the hidden answer, the more likely you are to trap yourself.

Don't Wordle pushes this idea to the limit by counting not just possible answers, but all legal guesses you still have available.

Why Legal Guesses Matter More Than Answers

A board can still have many possible answers while already giving you very few legal words to type. That is why Reverse Wordle feels harsher than a simple “avoid the answer” challenge.

If the legal-word count drops too far, you may need to Undo even though the puzzle has not officially ended.

How Don't Wordle Uses the Format

  • Six rows, one hidden answer, and Wordle-style color feedback.
  • Strict legality rules based on every clue already revealed.
  • Five Undos in standard mode, two in Hard Mode.
  • Temporary and final elimination states when the board runs out of room.

The same idea is sometimes called an opposite Wordle. If you want to see other reverse-format puzzles, browse our games like Don't Wordle list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Reverse Wordle just normal Wordle backwards?
The clues are the same, but the strategy changes completely. You want to keep the board alive instead of driving directly toward the answer.
Why is it harder than it looks?
Because every clue helps identify the answer while also shrinking the set of words you are still allowed to guess.
Can you lose without typing the answer?
Yes. If too few legal guesses remain for the rows you still need to fill, you can be eliminated even without ever submitting the hidden word.
What role does Undo play?
Undo lets you back out of a line that has narrowed the board too aggressively. In standard mode you get five; in Hard Mode you get two.
